* P1 Tour of our Town*

20th Apr 2023

This month Primary One's theme is ‘Yum, Yum.’  We are exploring where food comes from, different types of food as well as where we can get certain foods.  We thought a tour of our local town Limavady would help us find out.  We visited the local butchers and Ricky told us that they sold, different types of meat; pork, chicken, steak, turkey and even fish.  Everything smelt so spicy and yummy.   We then went on to our local Fruit and Vegetable shop Marshall Howes and we saw lots of different fruit and vegetables - some that we knew and some that we were not so sure about.  As we walked we came across shops that sold houses, shops that sold holidays, shops that cleaned clothes, shoe shops, even shops that sold jewellery!!!  Sharon at the RVACC took us on a quick tour ......... we even found some local food produce there as well as some other exciting things... like real gold. We also found out about something called 'insurance', one of our mummys has a very important job selling this in her shop to keep people safe.  Our final visit was to Bernadette in our local Bakery shop Hunters.  Here we had the opportunity to find out what they sold as well as explore our new theme in Numeracy- Money.  We each gave Bernadette a 50p coin and we received the most delicious ginger bread biscuit, it most definitely was ‘Yum, Yum!’,  what a way to end our fabulous morning.

Limavady is an amazing Town and everyone in Primary One had the most amazing morning, thankyou to all that made our visit oh so special.
